Call for participants: Leaving Britain after Brexit
Are you a British citizen who left the UK for new life abroad since Brexit? We are looking for people who emigrated from 1 January 2021 onwards, for the purposes of work, study or family to take part in an interview for the MIGZEN research project. Interviews will consider your experiences of migration and settlement, your connections and relationships to the UK and the place of settlement, and your views of Britain from a distance.
We are particularly interested in capturing and portraying as many experiences as possible across age, gender, sexuality, class and ethnicity and we particularly encourage the participation of people who may identify as being part of one or more underrepresented category/ies.
What does taking part involve?
You would be interviewed by Professor Michaela Benson, a internationally renowned expert on British emigration in the presentday and the project co-lead. The interview would take place online via MS teams—or, where possible, in person—at a time that suits you. It would last up to 1.5 hours and be audio-recorded.
Further information about the study, including information about its purpose, what we will do with the interview data, and our ethics approval is included on our information sheet, which you can download here.
If you would like more information or arrange an interview, please email michaela.benson@lancaster.ac.uk or leave your contact details here.
Please also feel free to share this information with anyone who you think might be fit the bill!
